Our Story
ReceiptFake started with a familiar frustration. You file an expense report, dig through your wallet, and realize the gas receipt from that two-day client trip is gone. Maybe it fell out. Maybe the thermal print already faded. Maybe you never got one. Now you’re stuck — your finance team needs documentation, and the only options online are tools that watermark your output, force you to create an account, or charge a monthly subscription for what should be a 30-second task.
We built receiptfake.com to fix that. The Receipt Maker tool runs entirely in your browser, produces watermark-free receipts in any of ten common formats, requires no signup, and is genuinely free — not “free with limits.”
What We Stand For
Legitimate use, full stop
This is the part most receipt-maker websites bury in the fine print. We put it on the front door. Receipt Maker is for replacing lost receipts, tracking expenses, prototyping POS systems, and design work. It is not for fraud. Submitting a fabricated receipt to a tax authority, employer, or insurance company is a crime in most jurisdictions, and we have zero interest in being part of that chain. Our Disclaimer and Terms of Service spell this out clearly.
Privacy by design
The receipts you create never touch our servers. The entire tool is JavaScript that runs on your device. Your business names, prices, items, logos — none of it is uploaded, stored, or transmitted. When you close the tab, your work is gone (unless you choose to save it locally with our localStorage feature). We think this is the right way to build a receipt tool, and we’re a little surprised we’re one of the few sites that does it this way.
No dark patterns
We don’t watermark your free downloads. We don’t gate basic features behind a paywall. We don’t bombard you with popups asking for your email. The tool works the way you’d expect a tool to work: open, use, leave.

Ashir is an AI engineer based in Pakistan with a background in software engineering. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in software engineering in 2021, he spent several years building web applications and SEO tools before founding Receipt Maker. He has built and maintained a network of utility websites focused on small business operators, and brings a developer’s eye for clean, fast, no-friction tools to the receipt-generation niche.

How We Make Money
We’re upfront about this because too many “free” tools online aren’t. Receipt Maker is free to use, and we plan to keep it that way. The site is supported by:
- Display advertising through Google AdSense, shown in non-intrusive placements outside the tool itself.
- Affiliate partnerships with bookkeeping and small-business software providers (such as Wave, FreshBooks, and QuickBooks). When we recommend a product, we only recommend ones we’ve actually evaluated. If you click through and sign up, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you.
- Future premium features for power users who want bulk generation, advanced templates, or other features beyond what most users need.
None of this affects the core tool. The base receipt builder will always be free, watermark-free, and signup-free.

The articles, guides, and FAQs on this site are written or reviewed for accuracy by people with relevant experience in bookkeeping, small business operations, or software development. Where We’re Going
We launched in 2026 with ten core templates: generic, restaurant, gas station, grocery, parking, taxi, hotel, pharmacy, retail, and fast food. The roadmap from here:
